This was taken the same day I took all the snow pics. I'm about 2000ft lower where this was taken. The weather change over just a couple of miles is amazing here.

Lucia hanging out by the flowers at the Wayward Chapel. I can't believe how early things are blooming this year, even with all the snow still. It was actually snowing while we were on the hill side, it just wasn't sticking.

Another gloreous day in the park. It snowed all day yesterday and last night. I love this time of year. Warm enough for lite fall clothes, yet ther's still snow on the ground. Makes for great hiking weather.

This is the entrance at the north end of the park. It sits at the edge of Gardner, Mt., the little town that borders the park.

National Geographic at its finest! Grizzly bear on an elk carcas, grey wolf waiting for his turn(even though it was his kill to start with), bison in the foreground(all males that were fighting constantly while we watched), crows tormenting the bear for his dinner and if you look real close, a bunch of Canadian geese in the background. Pictures don't get any better than this!

Baby bear is back for another season. Commonly known as Pooh Bear, because she likes to rip up sewer lines on trailers. Right now she's just ripping up grass looking for pine nut stashes and roots.

The Nez Perce area of Yellowstone river. This is where the Nez Perce indian tribe crossed the Yellowstone River while running from the white man to Canada. They lost the chase only 50 or so miles from the border.

This was taken about a week ago at Mary Bay on the east side of the park. No kayaking yet, soon though :)

The dog should of had an icecream headache from this swim. Check out all that ice! She swam out there on her own to check out the big stick in the water. I got cold just watching her.

Stopped for a break in Bighorn N.F. Isn't this place great?! There was a guy fishing on the other end of shore and no one else for miles.

I wonder what it was like to be the first settlers to come up on this. The park just appears out of nowhere and disappears just as fast. Anyway, off to Wall Drug for some .10 coffee and a homemade donut....mmmmmm.

I love the color changes in this park!

Lucia taking a break from the car ride and enjoying the scenery.

A nice shot of Badlands N.P. in the AM. We drove through the park on the way to YNP. Didn't stay too long. I was in a hurry to get home.

Lucia loves the snow! She looks a bit cross eyed here, but I took the pic in mid leap. I had to keep her on leash because she kept trying to run out on the thin ice.

Most of the snow is gone now, but I took this at Sylvan Lake when I first arrived. The dog had a blast slamming through the snow banks! It's warming up a lot faster than average this year. Lots of worry about forrest fires, but that's always a concern up here.

This was taken east of the park in Shoshone N.F. Very cool place to hike and you can take dogs on trail, unlike Yellowstone :(

Another pic of momma and her cubs. This will probably be the last pics of all the cubs together. We got word from resource managment that momma was seen with only one cub last night(5-19) and a lone cub was seen wandering around by itself about a half mile from her. Speculation is, momma and cubs ran into the big male bear that has been feeding on an elk kill nearby. Big bear went after mom and cubs. Cubs and mom got seperated. One cub is MIA, which means probably dead and the other is lost. If not gotten back together in 24 hours, baby is sure not to suvive on his/her own. As I write this, no word about whether mom was seen today. Mother nature sucks sometimes, but it is reality. At least mom still has one cub to look after. On the bright side, it's easier to raise one baby than three.

Here's momma bear and her 3 cubs. The cubs are the cutest things ever! They play and tumble over each other while trying to keep up with mom. I love spring!

Well I'm back in Yellowstone N.P. for the summer. Been here for about a week and a half now and have seen all sorts of cool stuff. Animals galore! Spring is the best time. I'll try to keep up on the weekly pics for those of you who follow my stuff. I do get a bit slack sometimes, but sitting in front of the computer is no fun when there is so much to do out here :)
